Founded in 1985, Deaf Women United (DWU) is a national organization that is dedicated to serving Deaf women by providing resources that connect these women to the empowerment of themselves and others through advocacy, education, and outreach.
Deaf Women United aspires to be a significant contributor to the community of Deaf women from all walks of life, and this is accomplished by recognizing, valuing, and embracing their additional identities. A vital part of DWU’s efforts in empowering Deaf women is hosting the biannual National DWU Conference in various cities across the nation, providing a space for Deaf women of all backgrounds, ages, and walks of life to network, connect, share, and learn in a wide range of professional and personal ways.
