SD Deaf Resource & Outreach Programs is a spin-off of Communication Service for the Deaf, which started serving Deaf South Dakotans in 1975. In June of 2023, we became our own entity, while maintaining the same staff providing the same services throughout the state. We have 2 main programs: Community Support and Equipment Distribution. Our Community Support Specialists provide a variety of Social Services and Peer Support, as well as ASL Instruction and Deaf Mentorship to the community, in addition to Technical Assistance and Referral Information. We co-host 2 summer camps for DHH youth.
The Telecommunications Equipment Distribution program provides iPhones/iPads or other amplified/captioned equipment to the deaf/hard of hearing community statewide.
As highlighted in our logo, we are most proud of our work to partner with other service organizations to ensure that the needs of our community members are being met.
