One Gift. Many Organizations.
Deaf organizations provide essential, accessible, creative, and affirming services to our deaf communities. They’re also among the most underfunded and under-resourced nonprofits in the United States.
DOF is committed to addressing this inequity by providing accessible grants and nonprofit resources.
Make a gift of personal significance today, or sustain our work monthly.

Deaf organizations receive less than 1% of the $37.2 billion in grants awarded globally each year.
The shifting nonprofit landscape and escalating attacks on disability rights are putting accessible resources and services for deaf communities at risk.
By helping us double our grantmaking to $200K, your gift will support the work of 10 incredible deaf organizations in early 2026.

Beneficiary Designation
Name Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF) as a beneficiary of your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), 401(k), or other non-probate assets you may have.
What is a nonprobate asset? Nonprobate assets include retirement accounts, life insurance, some bank accounts, and some physical assets (i.e., a house or vehicle). These types of assets are not controlled by what’s written in your will, but you can assign them to a beneficiary.
How you benefit: Normally the assets held in an IRA or qualified retirement plan will be subject to both income tax and estate taxes, but if you name DOF as a beneficiary of a percentage (or all) of your plan, that portion will pass to DOF free of income or estate taxes.

Champions of Deaf Organizations Collective
Monthly giving is one of the simplest yet most critical ways to sustain the work of nonprofits, including ours.
When you give regularly at a level that is comfortable and meaningful to you, you help Deaf Organizations Fund fiscally plan for the long-term.
Together we can ensure that deaf organizations have sustained access to the resources they need to support our deaf communities.
Charitable IRA Rollover
If you're 70 ½ or older, you can instruct your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) administrator to transfer all or part of your required minimum distribution directly to Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF) each year and avoid paying the tax had you taken it as income.
How you benefit: A charitable IRA rollover makes it easier to use IRA assets during your lifetime to make charitable gifts. Your gifts count toward your required minimum distribution, but do not count as income for federal income tax purposes. If you've already used up your charitable deductions, or if you don't itemize your deductions, you can still make gifts through tax-free IRA transfers.

Donor-Advised Fund Grant
Recommend a grant to Deaf Organizations Fund through your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).
A DAF is a type of investment account in which:
- You make an initial, irrevocable gift of cash, stock, real estate, or crypto to fund a DAF at a sponsoring organization, which will then liquidate the assets and provide you a tax deduction that same year.
- Your assets in the DAF grow tax-free, and you can deposit additional funds and other non-cash assets over time, incurring more tax benefits.
- You make recommendations on grants to be made from your DAF to DOF at any time.
You can also work with your DAF custodian to create a succession plan for your DAF, creating a legacy that involves your children or others as successor advisors to the family DAF!

Stocks and Securities
Giving publicly traded shares of stock, bonds or mutual funds to Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF) allows you to convert an appreciated asset into a gift of immediate impact without affecting your day-to-day income.
You’ll receive a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift, and as a qualified non-profit, DOF can then sell the stock without having to pay capital gains tax. All the proceeds from the sale will be used for the charitable purposes you specify.
The real cost of your gift is reduced, since you'll save on income and capital gains taxes by giving appreciated stock or securities to DOF.

Will or Trust
Include language in your will or trust that specifies a gift from your estate to be made to Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF).
This is otherwise known as a bequest, and can be done in several ways:
- You can gift a specific dollar amount or an asset
- You can gift a percentage of your estate
- You can gift from the balance or residue of your estate
